Experience Venice, one of the most captivating—and romantic—cities in the world. Tour the city’s cobblestone streets and overarching bridges, or take to the water and explore the canals on a water taxi or gondola. As you make your way through the city, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to shop, sample delicious Veneto wines, or people watch in Piazza San Marco.

Port:Chioggia

Chioggia Maritime Station is approximately 50 km (31 miles) south of Venice. The journey to Venice typically takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. Chioggia itself is often referred to as "Little Venice" due to its charming canals and historic architecture.

Opatija, set in the heart of the Kvarner Riviera, is a gem of a resort town with the slight feel of stepping back in time. A tourism hotspot in the 19th century, its well-maintained public gardens, 12km coastal promenade known as the Lungomare, well-kept beaches and fountains provide a stunning backdrop for its handsome villas and hotels.

Ships will dock or anchor offshore at this port.

The nearby Acropolis Museum showcases stunning artifacts from ancient Greece, providing deeper insight into the city's heritage.

Afterward, wander through Plaka, Athens' oldest neighborhood, known for its narrow streets, neoclassical architecture, and charming tavernas. For lunch, indulge in traditional Greek cuisine like moussaka or souvlaki. Head to the National Garden for a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city, perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll amid lush greenery and historical statues.

Port:Piraeus

Athen's city center is located about 12 km (7.5 miles) from Piraeus and it takes roughly 20-30 minutes to reach by taxi or train. A taxi ride to the airport from Piraeus will take approximately 40-60 minutes, depending on the traffic. The taxi fare (indicative only) is around 45 euros in the daytime and 64 euros at night (24:00-05:00).

Small ocean cruising is the way to go- only 600+ on board. The Azamara pursuit was perfect for the Croatian intensive cruise. Food was great, service amazing and a funny tour Director and ship captain. Shore excursions vary from strenuous to mild.

Summer in Europe can be VERY hot (it was particularly so in Athens) coastal regions are good, and onboard ship was pleasant. What was the quality of the accommodation like? The Azamara Pursuit has excellent ...read more accommodation. Our stateroom was perfect, and the attendant was very attentive. Was it a good time of year to travel? Not particularly so in the towns we stopped at. The heat was sometimes overwhelming. What were your fellow travellers like - were they a good mix and did you get along? A very diverse mix; but we soon found people who we often ate with or went on to the day trips with.
